Berlińska policja potwierdziła zaistniałą w piątek sytuację portalowi rbb24. Wezwano ratowników wysokościowych, aby sprowadzili protestujących na dół.
Według policji około 200 osób zgromadziło się na Placu 18 Marca w godzinach rannych. Kilka wspięło się na Bramę Brandenburską, a inni jednocześnie zablokowali ulicę Ebertstrass, która przebiega przed berlińskim zabytkiem, co spowodowało zatrzymanie ruchu.
Akcja została też potwierdzona przez ruch protestacyjny Extinction Rebellion.
Działania te są częścią tygodnia protestów w Berlinie, w ramach którego aktywiści ekologiczni demonstrują na rzecz większej ochrony klimatu. Tydzień akcji w ramach sojuszu AugustRiseUp zorganizowały między innymi takie grupy jak Extinction Rebellion, Parents for Future, Jugendrat, Berlin4Future i Sand im Getriebe.
